The Gentleman's Magazine, Vol 29, 1759 p. 191
Tuesday 17 - His Majesty's ship Achilles, the Hon. Captain Barrington commander, on the 4th inst. in let. 44. 51. sicty leagues to the westward of Cape Finestre, fell in with and took the Count de St. Florentine of 60 guns, and 403 men from Cape Francois for Rochfort, commanded by the Sieur de Montay, after a close engagement of two hours, in which the Achilles had but two men killed and 23 wounded, and was hurt only in her masts, sails, and rigging. The loss on the enemy's side was very considerable having all his masts shot away with 116 men killed and wounded, among the latter, the captain with a musquet ball through his body, which he died two days after.
