A "Lieutenant Morgan" commanded a "settee," a small local vessel, in the Mediterranean in 1747. He is referred to in Rear-Adm. John Byng's correspondence with the c-in-c, Vice-Adm. Henry Medley, on April 28, 1747, in C247. Great Britain, Historical Manuscripts Commission, _Report on the Manuscripts of Lady du Cane_, Cd. 2367 (London: H.M. Stationery Office, 1905), p. 176, but Byng does not name the vessel (it might not have had a name), or give the lieutenant's first name. Cf. Lt. Jeremiah Morgan.
