At Chatham, on Tuesday last, a Court of Enquiry was held on board His Majesty’s gun-brig Mallard, Rear-Admiral Rowley, President, on Lieutenant John Read, Commander of the said gun-brig, charged by the Surgeon of her, with having refused to give proper necessaries for the use of the sick on board. The charge being in no part proved, but malicious and ill-founded, the Court, in consequence of which, after a long examination of several of the crew, honourably acquitted Lieutenant Read.
