Robert Parry Young was commissioned by Admiralty on 18 Oct 1777 as Lieutenant, HMS Druid, Sloop (ADM 6/21,p325) then by Admiralty order (ADM 2/104, p329) assigned to command the hired tender Triton on 16 Apr 1778. About 22 Dec 1779 he took command of the hired tender Severn (ADM 106/1262, pp 451, 452, 453, 457, 461, 465, &c) and was still commaning on 26 July 1781 (ADM 106/1268, pp 648)
