Commissioned by Admiralty 09 May 1781 as Lieut., HMS Daphne 6th/20 (ADM 6/22, p. 284). Commissioned 23 Nov 1781 by Admiralty as 4th Lieut., HMS Prothée, 3d/64 (ADM 6/22, p. 369). Joined Prothée 14 Dec 1781 and discharged 11 July 1782 to (prize) HMS Ville de Paris, 1st/104 (ADM 34/603, No. 978) which foundered off Newfoundland ca. 19 Sep 1782 with loss of all hands but one.
