Does anyone hae a source for the exact date of birth? All I can find is that he died 6 February 1874 in his eighty seventh year (Dawson Memoirs of Hydrography, Part 1, p96)

I should perhaps have added that a 1787 (or early 1788) year of birth concurs with the age shown (83) in the 1871 Census (taken on April 2nd), and also with the age given (86) at his death in Feb 1874.

Frederick Bullock was actually born in 1787. He was christened at Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire, Wales on 29 Dec 1787. Kidwelly is confirmed as his place of birth in the Censuses of 1851, 1861 and 1871. Baptism record obtained from FamilySearch.org.

The author of this page has confused the data of 2 different Bullocks - father and son. Admiral Frederick Bullock was born 17 Nov 1788 and died 6 Feb 1874. As stated, he was commissioned 22 Jan 1812. His son, Lt Frederick Alexander Lyon Bullock, was born 5 Apr 1825 and died 23 Feb 1848. Young Frederick was commissioned as a Lt 24 Nov 1847. The elder Frederick had 2 other sons in the Royal Navy - Rear Admiral Charles James Bullock(1826-1904) and Lt Augustus Thomas John Bullock(1828-1868).
