CPT Renou was commended in a private letter from Lieutenant General Ralph Abercromby to Henry Dundas. "To Captain Renou of the Royal Navy, Principal Agent of Transports, I desire to express the sense I have of his good conduct upon all occasions." Written aboard HMS Prince of Wales, 2 May 1797.
