I am not aware of the relationship between the two Cornejos.

One is a merchant captain and privateer and the other held high positions in the Navy.

Francisco Javier Cornejo y Vallejo (1667–1759) was a Spanish admiral who commanded fleets during 1730s (e.g., the seizure of Oran), was one of the three lieutenant-generals on the Admiralty Council to advise Prince Philip in the early 1740s, and then served on the War Council until his death in 1759. Honorio Cornejo y Carvajal (1861–1937) was an admiral and navy minister. This Cornejo was probably from the same family.
