Possibly, of course the date given on his monument will be a Julian date, 8th March 1747 in that Calendar is 19th March 1748 in ours, new years day not being until 25 March. On Three Decks we show julian calendar dates with an assumed new year on 1st January, hence the apparant discrepancy.

His monument at Grantham Church indicates he was killed by a cannon-ball on 08 Mar 1747 whilst serving on HMS Elizabeth leading an attack on Port Louis, Cuba at the request of Admiral Knowles.
