My ancestor Henry Webber travelled from England to Madras on board the Bellmont in 1786. Is there a ship's log or passenger passenger list available for viewing? His family were originally from the Devon area.

As per Byng's defence, and confirmed by lieutenants logs, Gough was sent to command the Chesterfield in Captain Lloyd's absence after the Battle of Minorca. Whilst legally "lieutenant commanding", the muster for the Chesterfield record him as "Acting Captain" with a start date of 24th May 1756 and a finish date of 16th June 1756. He was superceded as Acting Captain by Christopher Bassett, Byng's 2nd lt on his flagship
