Commodore Matthew Michell, c-in-c Downs, stationed in the Schelde during the summer of 1747, mentions in a dispatch to the Admiralty that he had sent "Lieutenant Hudson" to Bergon-op-Zoom (under attack by the French). /Teerror/ was one of the ships under Michell's command in the Schelde. According to a table in Rodger, /Wooden World/, bomb vessels like /Terror/ did not hve lieutenants, so Hudson must have been on another ship and been promoted to command of /Terror/ when her incumbent commander left her. Michell's flagship was /Sapphire/, 44. He had a few 24-gun sixth rates and a few sloops with one lieutenant each.
