Introduction

Squadron entrusted by the King to Cassard to go and ravage the English, Dutch and Portuguese colonies. It is particularly distinguished by its intrepidity during the attacks of Santiago (Cape Verde Islands), Surinam and Curaçao. The raids caused the enemies enormous losses estimated at over thirty million.
