In French, « le Succès » (a masculine word), even when it is « une frégate » (a feminine word): the London Courier is here less reliable than the web page where this article of its, thanks to Mʳ Miller, is now avalaible.

Leghorn, 10 September 1801:All the transport ships which were to have sailed to the Island of Elba, under the protection of the Bravoure and Success, the two French frigates which have been lost, have been taken by the English. There were six of them; their lading consisted of provisions and ammunition for the besiegers of Porto Ferrajo. Thus, including the Ceres, the French navy has lost again three frigates, which had come to this road from Toulon, under Capt Bredel. We do not at this moment know what has been the Captain’s fate. He was on board the frigate La Succes. The frigate La Bravoure, which was wrecked on the rocks of Antignano, cannot be saved. The French are at present busy saving her guns. The wreck of the ship they will abandon to the waves. The English ships of war have again disappeared, probably to take their old station near Porto Ferrajo. [London Courier, 9 October 1801]
