Undertakes an exploration campaign of the Seychelles Archipelago and then a mission to Rodrigue Island .
ref:673Grenier , still aboard L'heure du Berger , left Port-Louis on August 12, 1768 for Foulepointe . It then follows the east coast of the island in a southerly direction , and maps to the Manansari River . The expedition was initially supposed to go to Fort Dauphin . But the lack of provisions made this project unfeasible . Grenier nonetheless recognized many anchorages and sank into the arms of many rivers which bordered the coast . He also strove to identify places favorable to the installation of a trading post , even taking a tribal chief from around Mahanoro to the Île de France . On August 26 he was at Foulepointe , on September 30 at Lake Nossibé , on October 12 he left Tamatave , on November 7 he anchored at Manourou , on 23 at Mananzary , which he left on December 13 for Bourbon , or he arrived on 23 , and arrived on January 11, 1769 in Port Louis .
Upon his return , he drew up a Plan for Settlement in Madagascar .
