According to the official Portuguese gazette of the period, the Dutch men-of-war 'Lepelaar', 'Rossum', and 'Vredenhof', all commanded by Jacobo Vancoperen [sic], were several times in Lisbon while patrolling off the Barbary Coast in February-May 1726. ('Gazeta de Lisboa', N.º 20, 16 de Mayo de 1726, p. 160).

Another Dutch warship then present in Lisbon was the 'Oosterijk', commanded by Gisberto de Lange [sic], which left Lisbon on April 28 (ibid.).

The first three men-of-war first arrived from the Strait of Gibraltar in mid-February (ibid., N.º 8, 21 de Fevereiro de 1726, p. 56).
They are again mentioned in Lisbon in mid-March, when they left to cruise off the Barbary Coast (ibid., N.º 12, 21 de Março de 1726, p. 96).
They returned to Lisbon on April 19 (ibid., N.º 18, 2 de Mayo de 1726, p. 143).
They finally left Lisbon on May 20 (ibid., N.º 22, 30 de Mayo de 1726, p. 176, where the commanding officer is called Jacobo van Kooteren).
