London, 26 December 1751: Yesterday Capt Chyne, of the Protector, bound for the East-Indies, took his leave of the Court of Directors of the said Company for her voyage, being fitted out as a man of war, to prevent an interruption to the Company’s trade in those parts. [Kentish Post, 28 December 1751]
