Portsmouth, 9 December 1815: The Africaine, Hon Captain Rodney, arrived on Wednesday from the Cape of Good Hope and St Helena. She sailed from the Cape with the Rose merchant ship, in company, on the 9th Sept, and arrived at St Helena on the 24th, whence she sailed with she ship before-mentioned, and the Partridge, another merchant vessel, on the 1st Oct. Both the merchant vessels parted company on the 17th ult during a very heavy gale of wind, in which the Africaine sprung several leaks and sustained considerable damage. [Hampshire Chronicle, 11 December 1815]
