I have to beg you will acquaint my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty , that , on the 27th Ult. being off Vigo , I captured , after several hours of chase :L'Alerte French Brig Privateer of 14 guns French Six and Four pounders , and 84 men , commanded by Bernard Benjamin Bezard, on her return from a cruize, having been 65 days from Bourdeaux. Her masts , sails, and rigging are much torn by our shot , and the man at the helm (the only man suffered on deck) dangerously wounded. I have sent 5 wounded prisoners on shore, to the care of the French Consul at Porto.
