My Great, Great Grandfather(99% certain), Robert Goodwin, Took over as Captain in August 1851. (prior to this he was First Officer on the ship) She sailed to China, on the 21st of August, to relieve the "Phlegethon". She called at Singapore from 12-17 September and arrived at Hong Kong on 19th October and joined the Sqaudron of Rear Admiral Charles Austen, youngest brother of novelist Jane Austen.

nemesis was deliverewd as merchatman ,
was a paddle sloop of the Bengal marine,
which only in 1850s should belonged to Indiabn Navy
so orignaly not built to Indian Navy but Bengal Marine
(note most of Laird built steamers were buitl for Bengal Marine), which was development form Bengal Pilot Service
her engines were used in the new NEMESIS built 1858 by Kidderpore.

My Ancester Thomas Wallage was Commander of the HEIC Nemesis 1847-1851 This vessel was in action during the Opium Wars, the founding of Hong Kong and numerous piractical engagements off the coast of Sarawak with Raja Sir James Brook.
