London, 27 April 1765: The Mercury and the Fly men of war, from Madagascar, have passed by he Cape of Good Hope; they sailed from St Helena the 8th of January, 1764. The Asia arrived at the Cape the 31st of August, and sailed the 11th of September, to Bombay. The Fort William arrived the 25th of September, and sailed the 12th of October. The Prince of Wales arrived the 29th of December, for Bengal. His Majesty’s ships the Weymouth, Panther, and Seahorse, arrived the 5th of November, and were to sail the beginning of February for Europe. The Kent, with Lord Clive on board, arrived at the Cape the 19th of November, but it was not known when she would sail. [Exeter Mercury, 3 May 1765]

Chatham, 5 January 1772: The Lords of the Admiralty have ordered his Majesty’s ship Weymouth, of 60 guns, to be taken into dock, and pulled to pieces, being very rotten, and unfit for further service. [Exeter Flying Post, 17 January 1772]
