Portsmouth, 18 November 1815: A Court-martial was held on Monday last on board the Queen Charlotte, for the trial of Mr Thomas Brotherton, late Boatswain of the Spider, for causing he death of Mr John Roberts, late Carpenter of the same sloop, who fell overboard and was drowned, in consequence of a kick which he received from the Boatswain in the month of June last, whilst laying in St John’s Road, Antigua; but the charge of murder not being proved against the said Mr Thomas Brotherton, he was acquitted. Captain Sir A C Dickson, Bart, of the Rochefort, President. Plymouth, 9 November 1815: His Majesty’s ship Impregnable, of 98 guns, which has lately arrived from the Mediterranean, is ordered to be prepared as the flag-ship of Admiral Sir J T Duckworth at this port. [Hampshire Chronicle, 20 November 1815]

Portsmouth, 21 September 1816: Amongst the numerous losses of valuable lives in the late attack on the Algerines, we are sorry to announce that of Mr John Hawker, Midshipman of the Impregnable, son of Peter Hawker, Esq, of Soberton, in this county, a very promising young officer.
