Portsmouth, 11 April 1801: Yesterday went past this port, for the Downs, the Arethusa, of 38 guns, Capt Wolley, from the Cape of Good Hope, with the following homeward-bound East-Indiamen and whalers under convoy, viz Princess Mary, Scalesby Castle, Walmer Castle, Upton Castle, Thames, Cuffnells, Royal Charlotte, and Bengal Anna, Indiamen; Aurora and Hillsborough whalers. Portsmouth, 4 May 1816: The Cuffnells, Capt Wellbank, from China, put into Spithead, on Thursday, to obtain seamen; she was in a leaky state; and her crew had become so exhausted from constantly working at the pumps, that they were unable to navigate her any further. She sailed yesterday for the River. [Hampshire Telegraph, 6 May 1816]

London, 28 December 1815: The Company’s freighted ship the Marquis of Wellington, arrived at Portsmouth on Tuesday, from China, which she left on the 19th of July, and St Helena the 11th of November. The Cuffnells arrived at Canton on the 17th of July; and the direct China ships are said to have been in Anjer Roads the latter end of August. [Hampshire Telegraph, 1 January 1816]

London, 9 January 1816: The Cuffnells and the Royal George sailed from Madras on the 20th of May, for China; the former was going into Macao Roads as the Wellington was coming out on the 17th of July. The boat of his Majesty’s ship Alpheus, lying there, brought to the Wellington a letter from the Captain of the Cuffnells; and the coxswain of the boat told the crew of the Wellington, that the Royal George was reported to be lost, but which intelligence was not communicated to Captain Batham for some time afterwards. On the 30th of September, in Lat 12.35S, Long 85.10E, saw a large mast, about half a mile distant, supposed to be the main mast of a large ship. [Exeter Flying Post, 11 January 1816]
