Portsmouth, 18 July 1801: We are sorry to state, that Lieutenant Kent, commander of the Buffalo store-ship, lying in our harbour, fell down into the hold of that ship, on Saturday last, and broke his back; he is, however, in a fair way of recovery. [Portsmouth Telegraph, 13 July 1801]

London, 25 May 1801: Governor Hunter is arrived from New South Wales. He came in the Buffalo man of war, arrived at Portsmouth. [Hampshire Chronicle, 1 June 1801]

This vessel was crucial to Port Jackson, Norfolk Island, and the settlements at Port Dalrymple and the Derwent River in Van Diemen's Land, and between England, the Cape, and India. In May 1799 she arrived in Port Jackson. Her master was William Raven and her boatswain's mate was John Grono. The National Maritime Museum has copies of her plans, now digitised (Vessel ID 381487). She had a kangaroo figurehead.

This vessel stopped at Hobart, VDL, on its way to Port Dalrymple, around December 1803 according to RM Lt. Col. David Collins.
