Advertisement: For sale at the Brokers’ Warehouse, Woolster Street, Plymouth, on Friday, the 15th day of May next, the handsome, fast-sailing, copper-bottomed schooner, Le Mont Blanc, captured on her voyage from Cayene to L’Orient, after a long chase, by His Majesty’s cutter Viper, Jeremiah Coghlan , Esq, comnander. Square-sterned, pierced for 10 guns, coppered to light water mark… Now laying in Catwater, and there to be delivered.
After which will be sold the cargo, consisting of coffee, cloves, annatto, cotton, elephants’ teeth, 6 brass and 4 iron guns, with a variety of other stores. Peter Symons, Sworn Broker, Plymouth. [Hampshire Telegraph, 4 May 1801]

Plymouth, 6 February 1801: Came in the French lugger Bon Amie, from Bourdeaux, bound to Morlaix, laden with wine and brandy; captured by his Majesty’s ship Magicienne, of 3 6 guns, Capt Ogilvy: and the French schooner Mont Blanc, from Cayenne, bound to L’Orient, laden with coffee, cotton, and elephant’s teeth, captured by the Viper cutter, of 14 guns, Lieut Coglan. Hi I searching for more details of origins of this vessel. Could she have originally been 'Greyhound' belonging to J Knill customs officer at St Ives Cornwall as customs boat, later privateer with 2 letters of marque apparently sold into 'oblivion' in 1779?

Any details very welcome
