In St Andrew's Cathedral, Singapore, is a plaque that reads "Sacred to the memory of George Samuel Berens, mate of the Royal Navy lately belonging to Her Majesty's Sloop 'Harlequin' who departed this life at sea on 11th September 1843 aged 25, and was buried off Tan Jong Dattoo island of Borneo. This tablet is erected by the Commander and Officers of Her Majesty's Sloop 'Harlequin' as a mark of their esteem and regard."
