Portsmouth, 28 November 1765: Thursday arrived the at Spithead his Majesty’s ship Guernsey, Commodore Palliser, from Newfoundland. The rest of the fleet are expected home soon; they are gone for Cadiz. [Ipswich Journal, 7 December 1765]

London, 13 April 1765: By a letter from on board the Speaker East-India ship at Spithead, dated the 9th instant, there is an account, that a mutiny happened on board that ship the 1st instant, by 20 soldiers seizing the waterman’s boat, and were making the best of their way, but a gun being fired as a signal to his Majesty’s ships Guernsey and Phaenix, they manned their boats, and brought them all on board; they were immediately put in irons, and on the 7th the rest of the soldiers laid the following scheme, to go into the gun-room and seize the arms-chest, and release the prisoners on deck, and kill all they found in their hammocks, and cut the cables and run the ship ashore; but some of he ship’s crew overheard them consulting their wicked designs, and immediately acquainted the commanding-officer, who gave the sailors all arms, and placed centinels at the hatches to keep the soldiers down, whereby their scheme was frustrated, and the ringleaders brought to the gangway where they received two dozen lashes, and were put in irons till the Captain came on board. His Majesty’s ships the Guernsey, Pearl, and Zephyr, now lying at Portsmouth, are put into dock to be fitted up, in order to sail shortly on the Newfoundland station. [Exeter Mercury, 1 February 1765]
