He is to be constantly in attendance on the works, either in person or by deputy. He is to call over the names of day laborers. Not to take into work any person not capable of doing a good day's work, especially boys, very ancient men or maimed or disabled persons. Every Friday night he is to draw up a "fairemuster rolle" of all the officers and laborers in such away that the hours and the sum due are shown, leaving a margin to enable a receipt to be given.
From the orders and instructions given to William Crispin at Kinsale 1678.
