He directs the works of the port , in particular the hydraulic works of the Lido on behalf of Prince Eugène , Viceroy of Italy .
He built several vessels , including the Rivoli , which he brought out of the port using "chameau" , a sort of floating docks , a creation of Dutch origin , which he was the first to use in the French navy .

He is organizing a mission to the Illyrian provinces to identify the possibilities of logging the forests and to draw up a plan to transport masts to Toulon . This action earned him the compliments of Minister Decres .
