He decides to raze the first battery of old ships and to suppress the fellows while keeping only 30 or 24 guns of 36 in the battery . These ships are called “frigate ships” . Among these ships are the Brutus, the Pluton  and the Argonaute .

He prepared and ensured the departure of the squadron commanded by Vice-Admiral Bruix , made up of 25 vessels , which broke the English blockade and managed to reach the Mediterranean .
