but I have just read the listing of the"Archives of St Servan" and a third ship is : "Joseph" ??

There were only two French frigates involved: "Le Grénédane" (30, Cptn. Vaughan) and "Le Phelypeaux" (44, Cptn. Vaujoyeux).
The whole convoy was captured and braught to St. Malo.

vaisseaux pélican et prudent ne sont pas présent à ce combat
vaisseaux présents :
- 36 phelypeaux : capitaine : thomas avice de Vaujoyeux.
- 30 grenedan : capitaine : thomas Vaughan ( jacobite ).
- xx notre dame de bon voyage : etienne des hayes de la Grande-Maison.
