In the month of Feburary, Captain Lockhart being ill and on shore, the Tartar again put to sea, under the command of her first lieutenant, Mr. Thomas Baillie, and in the course of her cruise fell in with the privateer Victoire, of 26 guns and 230 men; and after a smart action, the privateer surrendered. Being a remarkably fine vessel, the Victoire was purchased by government and added to the British navy, by the name of Tartar's Prize, the command of her being deservedly conferred on Lieutenant Baillie together with his commission as master and commander.
