The bombardment of Salé was a naval attack launched between November 26 and 27, 1851 by the French Republic , against the Moroccan town of Salé , in response to the looting of a French cargo ship by residents of the town , and the refusal to reimbursement from Sultan Moulay Abderrahmane .

It is composed of the large ship Henri IV (armed with 100 guns and commanded by Captain Louis Henri de Gueydon), two steam frigates, the Sané (armed with 14 guns and under the command of Captain Rosamel) and the Gomer (army of 14 guns and under the command of Captain Allain) and two other ships, the Narval (armed with 4 guns and commanded by Captain Lefèvre), a steam and wheeled corvette and the aviso Caton (armed with 6 guns and commanded by Captain Guesnet) .
