On December 13th, the Warspite, 70, Captain Josias Crow, and the Breda, 70, Captain Thomas Long, being detached by Sir John Norris, sighted and chased the Maure, 60. The Breda first got up with the enemy; and there resulted a smart, but brief, action, in the course of which Captain Long was killed. The Warspite then took up a position on the Frenchman's quarter, and made ready to board, whereupon the Maure at once struck
