On April 27th, the British frigate Niger, 32, Captain Edward James Foote, drove the French armed lugger, Ecureuil, ashore on the Penmarck rocks. 2 After cannonading her, Captain Foote sent in his boats, which, in spite of a desperate resistance on the part of the French, burnt her. The British loss was seven wounded.
