The Imperieuse, 38, Captain Lord Cochrane, sailed into Caldagues Bay, where were several French vessels laden with supplies for the besieged garrison of Barcelona. In spite of the fire of a battery, and of the French Gauloise, 7, and Julie, 5, Cochrane sank the two vessels; with a landing-party captured the battery; and took possession of 11 ships laden with provisions all this without loss to his crew.
