On May 31st, the boats of the Topaze, 36, Captain Anselm John Griffiths, under Lieutenant Charles Hammond, were sent into Demata Bay, in the island of Santa Maura, to cut out nine French and Italian craft which had been observed lying there. The vessels were brought off with the loss of 1 man killed and 1 wounded.
