Why would it match? it's a different ship. Use the ship search. This one replaced the previous Swallow sold in June 1769

I have just read that Capt Philip Carteret had discovered Pitcairn Island on July 2, 1767 on 14 gun sloop SWALLOW. This does not match with above mentioned launching date? Source: Oxford Dictionary of National Biography from the earliest times to the year 2000, Matthew H.C.G. (Ed.), Oxford Univ.
