The John Pitman who was married to Magdalene Mignon, in Dec 1738, wrote his will on 10 Jan 1738/9. He starts his will "John Pitman now Second Lieutenant of his Majestys ship the Princess Louisa". His will was proved 23 Aug 1746 by the oath of his widow Magdalen. So yes, he is the one that died on the Saltash, but the earlier timeline is mixed up with the John Pitman who died in 1752. SECOND LIEUTENANT IN 1738/9.
