1665, Dover, March 1 - Captain Poole, Commander of the Drake frigate, having sent in 5 prizes hither the last week; Two days since met with a small French vessel of 60 tons, which he forced on shore near Bulloigne, but going aboard to see what lading she had, he was assaulted from the shore by the people, with muskets and stones, and what weapons on the sudden they could meet with. But the Captain setting the vessel on fire, got aboard the Drake, and firing a broadside or two, quickly dispersed the French and returned hither.
