Lieutenant Prideaux, late Commander of the Quebec cutter, obtained leave from Rear Admiral Duff to return to England for the recovery of his health and gave up command of her to Edward Bowater on the 24th October. He has asked to be paid by bill from August 1774, when appointed to her until such time thought proper. The Officers of the Canada armed schooner and the Quebec armed cutter are borne on the books of the Panther and Romney for victuals and paid their wages by bill. Lieutenant Prideaux has wages due for the Canada from November 1774 to October 1775 and for the Quebec from 15th to 24th October 1775, the day he was superseded. His application for further pay is based on Admiralty orders of August 1762 but it has not been usual to allow that time to any Officer regularly superseded and opine he can only receive half pay from October 1775
