Possibly same man as Lieutenant James Stewart on the "Monatague" in Plymouth Sound, who wrote to the Navy Commissioners on January 9th 1690/91. States his ship has been in a battle with the Magdalene of St. Mallo [Althanasius Joliff commander]. The Montague is only manned with 250 men, which is 100 men short of its full complement [source: ADM 106/410 f.5r]
