In a Chancery lawsuit dated 9 June 1702, Elizabeth Moodie, the sole executrix of the will of Charles Moodie, late purser of His Majesty's ship the Yarmouth, took legal action against Captain James Moody (the testators brother).

The PCC will of Charles Moody, gentleman, of the island of Orkney, Scotland, presently purser of His Majesty's ship Yarmouth, is dated 16 June 1696 and probate was granted on 30 March 1697
