1650 Captain Robert Wyard, of the Adventure, hired merchantman, fought his action off Harwich in 1650 with a greatly superior force, he and his officers and men were given medals of different values, ranging from 50 down to 5s., and that each medal had, as was directed, " the service against six ships engraved on one side and the arms of the Commonwealth on the other."TRN2

Marriage of a Robert Wyard
August 26th 1637 Robert Wyard and Alice Bonnet were married in St. Dunstan's, Stepney, London
Fined at Newcastle
(a)CAPTAIN ROBERT WYARD, of London, upon his oath, said, that he, with his ship, being in the river of Tyne, at Newcaflle, in Nov. 1649, where one of his fhips company (it seems) did cast two or three straw mats, out of one of his ships port-holes, yet, to this deponents unknowledge, which could do no harm to the river, by reason of its swiming to sea; but one Edward Green and one ? Wilkinson two freemen of Newcastle standing a quarter of a mile from the ship made oath, at Newcastle, that this deponent cast out ballast into the river, to the prejudice thereof. '

(b) Whereupon the mayor, and burgesses of Newcaftle seized him, and fined him twenty pounds for the fame, and constrained him to pay ten pound of it, and ten pound to Green, and eight pounds to Wilkinson, and twenty four pounds more the suit cost him, bejng fined by them, for saying they were forsworn, to say he cast ballast into the river, when he neither did, nor was out of his cabin when the mats were cast in.

My lords and gentlemen,

Wee have thought it necessary to give yow notice, that there is sent unto yow by the good ship called the Adventure of London, whereof Robert Wyard is master, cloaths and provisions for the Scottish army in Ireland, whereof the particulars are sent here inclosed. She is to be unladen in six dayes; otherwise he must have three pounds per diem demureage for so long as he shall stay.
