Born 27.11.1777, died 13.7.1857 in Bath. Midshipman, HMS Romulus (1790) Pogson lost the Racer in the Gulf of Florida, 10th October, 1814. He was appointed Commander of HM Excise cutter EAGLE at Sheerness, and same cutter out of Newcastle, on 23rd July, 1816. Promoted Commander, 4th March, 1819. 6th April, 1830, appinted Inspecting commander (Coast Guard Service) By 1834 probably unemployed but promoted to Captain. He was shown in the 1841 Census living in parish of St Clement Danes, London. He is buried in Lansdowne Cemetery in Bath, with his son Henry (1825-1861) who died at sea on the way home from India.
