The young Alexander (Jean-François brother) received baptism in the orthodox religion, his godmother was Catherine II of Russia, the empress, generous, deposited in the basket of the newborn a naval officer's certificate. Jean-Baptiste Prevost de Sansac fearing for the life of his child asked the Empress to hand over the patent held to Jean-François, who took the first name of Alexandre and kept the precious patent. Despite everything the young Alexander Ivanovich de Traversay survived. The family had two Alexander: Alexander the elder (1791-1850) and Alexander the younger (1796-1866). The two brothers made careers in the Imperial Russian Navy.
