The first and last commands are unlikely to be the same John Wood as the others. The first is probably too early, and does not feature in either Pepys's lists or ADM 10/10. The last (Providence) was after Wood died. After the Diamond, he commanded the Constant Warwick on a commission of 16 July 1681 from the Admiralty Commissioners (TNA ADM 10/10; Tanner, Pepys's Naval MSS Vol.1 p.426) and died at Falmouth on 25 April 1682 (Charnock, Vol.1 p.380) marked as 'Dead' in Pepys's list beside the Constant Warwick listing.
Additionally after the Assistance in 1673, he was also commissioned by the Duke of York as Lieutenant of the Princess and Lyon in the same year, as well as 3rd Lt of the Sovereign on a commission from Prince Rupert (TNA ADM 10/10 and Pepys MSS as above)
