According to Syrett & DiNardo ('The Commissioned Sea Officers of the Royal Navy, 1660-1815'), listed above as CSORN, there was an interesting extra in this officer's career: in 1796 he was dismissed from the service, but was restored in 1798. They do not say or even hint why. Their source was the Pitcairn-Jones Papers, which I believe are housed in the NMM.
