St Alban Roy was ordered by Admiralty as acting captain of HMS Cato, 4th/50, on 17 June 1782 (ADM 2/113, p.3) followed by an Admiralty commission dated 08 July 1782 promoting him Captain, Cato (ADM 6/22, p.493); then on 21 Oct 1782 Admiralty posted him Captain, HMS Perseus, 6th/20 (ADM 6/22, p.531), then on 16 Aug 1783 Admiralty posted him Captain, HMS Unicorn, 6th/20 (ADM 6/23, p.115) which he commanded until superceded on 31 Oct 1783 by Charles Stirling (ADM 6/23, p.158).
