London, 16 March 1751: On Tuesday the 5th of this month died, at Bury St Edmund’s in Suffolk, after a lingering illness, Capt Robert Harland, sen. He was one of the oldest Captains on the list of the Royal Navy, and deservedly esteemed a brave and experienced officer. He served with great reputation during the wars of Queen Anne, but has ever since lived retired in the country. [Kentish Post, 20 March 1751]
