I understand Captain William Robert Broughton married Jemima Broughton his cousin, daughter of the Rev.Thomas Broughton and Jane Wicker. What is the relationship between his father Charles Broughton and the Rev. to make them cousin's?

Hello Cy,
Can you confirm that Elizabeth Young was William Broughton's mother? David Young reported this in November 2017 but Anne Elizabeth de Hertoghe is still indicated.

Cheers, Ron

Hi Cy, in addition, if you look under the entry for 'Broughton, of Broughton, co. Stafford' in "The Baronetage of England revised, corrected and continued" (p.77) by GW Collen, you will see Charles Broughton who m. Anne-Elizabeth de Hertoghe and had (1) Charles who m. “Elizabeth, sister of sir George Young, R.N. and had issue , 1 Charles; 2. William-Robert, commodore R.N.” who m. “Jemima, da. of sir Thomas Broughton, bart …” etc.
Cheers, David

Hi Cy, yes I have a number of sources including a family tree in a privately published book written in 1927 by Admiral Sir George's great grandson Sir George Young 3rd Bt., but I see that no html is allowed in this comments section. Cheers, David

Hi David.
Do you have a source I can verify that against?

I believe William Robert Broughton's mother was Elizabeth Young, sister of Admiral Sir George Young. Broughton's grandmother was Anne Elizabeth de Hertoghe.
